International Peace Poster

The Lions International Peace Poster Contest provides youths of ages 11-13 with an opportunity to artistically share their vision for peace. Since its inception in 1988, the program has grown each year. To date, more than three million children in 75 countries have participated in the contest.

The theme for the 2013 Peace Poster was “Our World, Our Future”

Whitby High School and The University Church of England Academy both submitted entries and Mia Foden of Whitby High was selected as the area winner. All winners receive a book token and framed certificate which is presented to them during a school assembly.

Mia’s poster went on to the next round of the competition unfortunately she was not the winner of the next level.

As Lions we really enjoy the interaction with the youth in our community, after all they are the future of our Lions club.

Ellesmere Port & District Lions have sponsored this competition for the last 11 years and a number of local schools take part. Each year has a different theme, with 2008-09 being ‘Peace begins with me’. The winning poster from Ellesemere Port, and also the District, can be seen below.
