The Lions International Peace Poster Contest provides youths of ages 11-13 with an opportunity to artistically share their vision for peace. Since its inception in 1988, the program has grown each year. To date, more than three million children in 75 countries have participated in the contest.
Ellesmere Port & District Lions have sponsored this competition for the last 11 years and a number of local schools take part. Each year has a different theme, with 2008-09 being 'Peace begins with me'. The winning poster from Ellesemere Port, and also the District, can be seen below.

Local winner was Jenny Jones from Whitby High School with this poster. After winning the local schools heat, Jenny’s poster was submitted to the next stage of the contest with the winners from more than 60 schools in North Wales, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Powis, Cheshire and Wirral
Her Poster was selected as overall winner by the judges. She wins vouchers worth £50, a Shield, and Art books for her school. |
